Vision Zero is a strategy to eliminate all traffic fatalities and severe injuries, while increasing safe, healthy, equitable mobility for all. Mayor Bowser made a public commitment to Vision Zero in February 2015 to eliminate fatalities and serious injuries by 2024 with an “all-hands-on-deck approach to transportation safety.”

MPD publishes fatal crash totals, while the District’s Vision Zero website includes data on fatal crashes and serious injuries. The below is our gathering of the names of people who have died from traffic violence to provide greater transparency to the information already compiled by the District.
